Instructions
(10 - 15 minutes)- make sure you have all the materials
- place bucket and towel under the filter
- close inlet valve
- run water until it slows down (you don't have to wait until it fully stops)
- close outlet valve
- open bypass valve (you'll need water to clean out the shell)
- press red button to relieve water pressure
- take the big wrench thing that looks like a tennis racket and snug it up to the top of the shell
- untwist the shell (it is very heavy)
- place shell in bucket
- remove filter and drain excess water into bucket
- clean out shell with soap and water
- insert new filter into shell
- screw back into place with tennis racket wrench
- open bypass valve first
- open inlet valve second
- open outlet valve last
- check for leaks
- dump old water
- update this page with learnings and log entry
When to change
There are a couple conditions for changing:- If you notice a dip in water pressure in the house
- Check it roughly every 3 months. Change it if it looks dark brown / black
- If 12 months go by since you last changed it
