• Bucket
• Old towel
• New filter
• Soap and water

Filter specs

• 20 microns (mu m)
• 4.5 inch diameter
• 20 inch height
• Got the last one at Home Depot aisle 33
• Should be like $25 (Feb 2025 dollars)

Instructions

1. make sure you have all the materials
2. place bucket and towel under the filter
3. close inlet valve
4. run water until it slows down (you don't have to wait until it fully stops)
5. close outlet valve
6. open bypass valve (you'll need water to clean out the shell)
7. press red button to relieve water pressure
8. take the big wrench thing that looks like a tennis racket and snug it up to the top of the shell
9. untwist the shell (it is very heavy)
10. place shell in bucket
11. remove filter and drain excess water into bucket
12. clean out shell with soap and water
13. insert new filter into shell
14. screw back into place with tennis racket wrench
15. open bypass valve first
16. open inlet valve second
17. open outlet valve last
18. check for leaks
19. dump old water
20. update this page with learnings and log entry

When to change

• If you notice a dip in water pressure in the house
• Check it roughly every 3 months. Change it if it looks dark brown / black
• If 12 months go by since you last changed it
